What are your qualifications for cosmetic dentistry?
Dr. Maslow has over 30 years of experience. His father before him was a general and cosmetic dentist at the same practice. Both Dr. Maslow and team stay up to date with leading cosmetic dental treatments like Zoom! Whitening, porcelain veneers, and porcelain crowns. The dentists’ attention to detail and dedication to high standards set them apart as truly cosmetic dentists. Don’t take our word for it – visit our smile gallery and see for yourself the quality of work we provide!
How can I straighten my teeth without braces?
While effective, braces require a long-term commitment that many adults simply can’t fathom. We offer alternatives to traditional braces, including Invisalign, a clear aligner that straightens crowded or widely spaced teeth, and porcelain veneers. Visit our office for a consultation to learn if invisible braces or other alternatives are right for you.
How can you help me relax at the dentist’s office?
Dental visits can strain nerves, even for our bravest patients. Aside from our gentle chairside manner, we can provide nitrous oxide sedation. This colorless, odorless gas, often called “laughing gas,” is inhaled through a nasal mask. It will take your mind off your fears and promote a positive experience.
When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?
The American Dental Association recommends that children begin seeing a dentist around their first birthday. This is usually about six months after their first tooth erupts. Most children respond very well to a visit around the age of three, and you can even begin to familiarize your child with our office by bringing them to one of your visits. At your child’s first visit, we’ll check for proper development and teach them about good home care habits. When they return to us for their four or five year checkup, we can begin age appropriate hygiene, as well.
Of course, if you notice problems with your child’s teeth, please call our office for an appointment. It’s best to keep an eye on potential problems and treat them as early as possible. Learn more about children’s dentistry.
Do women require more dental attention?
Women’s oral health is different and there are many factors that make it important for women to maintain regular dental visits. Puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause all represent unique challenges with hormonal changes that can affect the health of gums and teeth, as well as a woman’s overall wellbeing. Good brushing and flossing habits, a balanced diet, and routine checkups and hygiene can all aid in keeping a woman’s smile healthy and strong!
What options do I have for replacing missing teeth?
Advances in dentistry allow patients more choice than ever before when it comes to replacement teeth. Our Wildwood Crest dental office offers fixed bridges, removable partials, full dentures, and dental implants, which means we can meet the needs of nearly every patient. After a thorough exam and consultation, Dr. Maslow and team can help you choose the replacement option that’s best for you.
How are digital X-rays different from traditional X-rays?
The biggest difference between digital and traditional X-rays is radiation exposure. Digital X-rays emit up to 80% less radiation than their conventional counterpart does. Digital X-rays come with the same conveniences as a digital photograph, which means we can immediately project your X-rays onto a chairside monitor as a visual aid, and transfer records between referring dentists, specialists, and even insurance companies quickly and easily. With no hazardous chemical developers, digital X-rays are also safer for our planet. Best of all, with all these benefits, digital X-rays also offer a higher quality image than traditional ones. Safer for you, safer for us, and safer for the earth- for these reasons, we choose to use digital radiography.
What do I do if I have a dental emergency outside of your office hours?
If you experience an emergency and our office is closed, please call us immediately and our answering service will take the call. Describe your emergency, in detail, and they will contact the doctor on call. We return all emergency calls as soon as possible, will give you instruction over the phone, and determine the best course of action for your dental emergency.
